Online payment processor Veritrans and tech blog DailySocial have released a report on the Indonesian e-commerce scene. Interestingly, according to the research, half of online shoppers use both Facebook and Indonesian forum Kaskus for online shopping. Whereas other notable Indonesian e-commerce sites such as TokoBagus (which recently snatched the e-commerce Top Brand awards 2012), Bhinneka, Multiply, Blibli, and Tokopedia lose out quite significantly compared to the social media and forum giants.
The report says that the majority of online shoppers in Indonesia spend up to IDR 500,000 ($53) per transaction, and that the most popular things bought online are in the fashion category, followed by travel bookings, software, and electronics. The e-commerce trend looks very healthy and the research predicts that the online shopping market size will grow 10 times larger in the next four to five years. We encourage you to check the full report in detail here.
