We previously wrote about FeD Jakarta, an NGO that tried to provide an e-counting system for the upcoming second round of Jakarta’s governor election. However, The Jakarta Globe recently reported that FeD Jakarta is still searching for volunteers to help them monitor polling stations as they have just gathered 2,000 volunteers out of 15,059 needed in order to have one volunteer manning each of polling station. Speaking to Jakarta Globe, Radhar Tri Baskoro, chief of FeD Jakarta, stated:
Obviously we’re trying to get enough volunteers to cover all the polling stations. We’ll work with what we have. If we only get 3,000 volunteers, for instance, we’ll still try to cover all the polling stations. It’s just each volunteer will have to cover five polling stations rather than just one.
Radhar continued to explain that there is an official document, called the C2 form that is posted in every polling station and is publicly available for all to see. Votes tally will be written down on this form once the polls are closed. FeD volunteers are expected to take a photograph of this form and then upload it to FeD’s server.
However, not all hope is lost for FeD Jakarta. Ramdansyah, chief of Jakarta’s Election Supervisor Body, told The Jakarta Globe that the committee will help FeD Jakarta by reinforcing 267 of its officials and 700 of its temporary workers. FeD Jakarta itself now works closely with universities. Radhar said,
We already have 21 universities on board with us. We’re targeting 40 universities to provide volunteers for us, plus volunteers from the wider community.
So, any Jakartans among Tech in Asia’s readers interested to lend a hand to FeD Jakarta?
