Nokia has been focusing on Asia and emerging markets for its Symbian phones but quite some time – but now it’s doing the same with Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS. The Lumia 510 was unveiled today by Nokia (HEL:NOK1V; NYSE:NOK) who says it “will be available to buy starting in November in India, China, South America, and Asia” for about US$200. It runs WP7.5, but will not get onto the newest WP8, raising the issue of this essentially running a dead-end OS.

The Lumia 510 has a 4-inch screen, and inside it has a modest 800MHz processor to save money. It comes in a choice of red, yellow, cyan, white or black. It’ll be interesting to see if this can impact on budget Android phones which have been doing so well in Asia recently.
