There’s yet another twist in the Foxconn-Indonesia saga as there’s a rumor flying in that the company’s plans to build a manufacturing plant in the country is in doubt now. WantChinaTimes cited an unnamed source today as saying that the reason for this is primarily because of the Indonesian government’s insufficient effort in fighting imitation and illegal imported handsets in the country.

Other reasons mentioned included the trouble in finding the right local partners, and the need to understand the wants of Indonesian customers before making the final decision. The investment had been postponed since December, and Hon Hai Precision Industry’s spokesperson Simon Hsing reassured the public at that time that they are not going to pull out the deal, and intend to proceed with the investment. Foxconn is a subsidiary company of Hon Hai.
