The Indonesia ICT Awards (INAICTA) has celebrated the country’s finest tech products as well as supported the ecosystem for the past six years. For the next contest, the seventh INAICTA will take on the theme “TeknoKreasi: A Nation of Possibilities” and start taking applications this Thursday. The awards sees a few changes in its competing categories. In particular, this year’s event welcomes submissions from tourism and e-commerce businesses, and sees the ditching of the startup category.
The registration period for INAICTA 2013 will start from February 21st and end on July 31st. Besides the usual events like roadshows, workshops, a conference, an exhibition, and awards night, this year’s INAICTA will also hold a new program called “Digital Preneurship.” The new program promises further training for INAICTA winners as well as a chance to pitch their products to investors.
Kompas cited an INAICTA representative, Andreas Surya, on Friday as saying that this year’s new categories can take Indonesia global from both economic and marketing points of view. Those new categories include “tourism and hospitality,” “e-commerce,” “e-health,” “advergames,” and “edugames.” Sadly, there is no longer the startup category which we highlighted last year – but startups are still encouraged to enter, of course.
Andreas also plans to focus on creating better ecosystem and communities by reaching out to more government departments to help monetize INAICTA participants’ products. Another way he wants to achieve that is by holding the aforementioned Digital Preneurship program.
