Sharp (TYO:6753) needs the money, and Samsung (005930:KS) needs the screens. So today’s officially confirmed deal between the two makes good sense, giving Samsung a 3.04 percent stake in Sharp for about US$110 million. The Korean manufacturer, which is bracing to release its newest flagship phone, the Galaxy S4, is already a customer of Sharp for TV and smartphone screens.
