I enjoy my chats with Ookbee founder Moo Natavudh (pictured), whenever I meet him in Bangkok, Thailand. Like a true Asian entrepreneur and leader, he thinks hard about revenue and keeping the company’s cashflow positive. That is, of course, making sure that product market fit is met.
According to Moo, he says that many entrepreneurs in Asia could be more creative in making money. He also believes that more entrepreneurs should be taking more risks and keeping operations more lean. To keep the company growing with good figures, he kept the company expense extremely low. Starting with himself, he took a below average pay each month.
While many people might see Ookbee as an instant success, the truth is that, like many other companies in Thailand, Moo also started as an outsourcing company. So for the past few years, Moo has accumulated knowledge on how to run a company through his outsourcing company, ITWORKS. His knowledge was aptly applied on Ookbee when time, luck, and product-market fit were just right. To date, Ookbee has about three million users, with operations in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
His story is quite inspiring and we believe there are many lessons for us to learn from his Ookbee journey. We’re glad to have him to at our coffee chat interview on April 4 from 2.00 to 2.30pm at Startup Asia Singapore 2013.
