Indonesia’s Soccer Ticker app, which was the overall winner of the Blackberry JamHack Asia competition recently, is proving to be popular with global football fans. The app is still positioned first in the Blackberry AppWorld for the “football and soccer” category, as it has been since launch on January 30th. Co-founder of app maker Inspira Solusi Indonesia, Vincent Putera, told us that its top four user areas are the UK, Canada, Saudi Arabia, and Indonesia. These people most probably are still a bit drowsy from watching the Champions League action last night.
Besides updating its Blackberry 10 app about twice a month, the team is now working hard to bring the Soccer Ticker experience to Android soon. Vincent explains that they will keep some exclusive features for Blackberry 10 devices, such as sharing app content with friends via BBM.
The app itself now supports major European leagues including the ones in England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Champions League, and the Europa League. Its other latest updates include a lite Twitter client that can stream football feeds and has embedded social interactivity. I personally find the app’s live betting updates an interesting feature. One of the top priorities for Vincent is to end the season strongly and be fully prepared for the upcoming World Cup next year.
Asked about what he thinks of the recent Blackberry Z10 launch in Indonesia, Vincent said that he thought it was a successful one:
All the telcos supported it, and the media talked about it, so I think it was a successful launch. Some people like it, some people don’t, and some people are waiting for Q10, but that’s normal.
At the same time, the reality is BlackBerry no longer has the appeal it used to have two to three years ago. Gone are the days when BlackBerry would launch a product, and people would literally step on another human being to get in line.
