Ah yes... Valentine's day is around the corner. It's time for the wallet to take one for the team!
We often see vertical e-commerce sites popping up, specializing in things like bags, lingerie, or household products for example. But e-commerce startup, FlowerAdvisor.com, is going back to the basics by sells flowers online. And surprisingly it is an international venture with 24/7 service, partnering with thousands of local florists all around the world.
It promises the customers that the flowers ordered will be delivered on the very same day, which is an impressive fact considering its geographic scope.
Willy Thomas, the founder of FlowerAdvisor revealed that the company is functioning across 111 countries in the world. With headquarters in Singapore, e-florist has affiliate programs set up for the brick-and-mortar florists to make this possible. In other words, you can see FlowerAdvisor as a gateway to buy flowers internationally. So why did this guy decide to sell flowers? Willy explains:
We decided to sell flowers because it can be considered a daily need. . . New business open daily, [but] people will still need flowers regardless of their class, so therefore it can be considered as necessity. Flowers are products that are homogeneous and can be found in all around the world, making it easy to expand internationally.
But flowers is just one of its business categories. FlowerAdvisor also sells cakes, wine, baby gifts, and hampers. Willy said that his company is profitable too, generating over SGD$1 million last year. Besides Singapore, FlowerAdvisor has an operating office in Jakarta as well.
Due globalization, we see that there are a lot of demands for people to send gifts internationally, but there is no strong brand in Asia for international gifts delivery. This is where we come in, by leveraging the e-commerce platform we help people to send gifts internationally at a competitive rate.
To make things easier for non-English speakers, FlowerAdvisor also has a list of local sites for its customers. So guys, if you need some flowers to impress your girlfriend(s) for the upcoming Valentine’s Day, you might want to head over to FlowerAdvisor.com to grab some. Good luck!
