Kreavi Launches Creative Marketplace for Indonesia

Indonesian creative network Kreavi.com launched a marketplace feature yesterday, allowing companies and organizations to more easily find Indonesian creative talents. This move also marks Kreavi’s transition from beta to full launch.

When I browsed through the marketplace feature, it had 55 posts ranging from creative events, competitions, to job vacancies. The marketplace search feature is made quite easy as users can search either based on employment criteria or by creative fields. So far, almost 90 percent of all the marketplace posts belong to the vacancy category.

Marketplace is also Kreavi’s main source of income it seems. Companies and organizations that want to post in the marketplace need to pay IDR 500,000 ($50) for each post, although it gets cheaper if bought in bulk. I can imagine student organizations cooperating with Kreavi as media partners with this feature too.

Kreavi also has two other features in its Gallery and Community sections. Gallery is where users can upload their designs just like on DeviantArt. What’s more interesting for me though, is the Community feature. The feature lets people talk in Twitter-like channels rather than the usual forum or other social media template. It’s not too crowded yet, especially the creative field category, but it is indeed unique and can offer a breath of fresh air to its users.

Since the beta launch in April, Kreavi has promising stats to share:

  • Total users: 1,900 [1]
  • Total artworks: 10,000
  • Daily traffic: 600 to 1,000 visits per day

The team behind Kreavi is co-founders Benny Fajarai and Caroline F. Sunarko. Benny is also the founder of a web and multimedia service company called CactusProject, while Caroline is also the founder of an event organizer focusing on creative events called CFS Group.

Benny named job listing sites such as JobsDC, JobStreet, and LionJobs as Kreavi’s competitors, but argued that when it comes to finding creative people, Kreavi stands out. He added that Kreavi can also act as an inspirational Indonesian website and resource for creative talents worldwide, harboring rich Indonesian culture such as wayang and batik. You can see a screenshot of the marketplace below.

As a disclaimer, Benny is a good friend of mine, and we enrolled in the same university and English club.
