Chinese gamers have been waiting a long time for news on the consumer version of the PLA-sponsored military training FPS Glorious Mission. Now, they’ve finally got some new information to pore over, in the form of a new official logo (see right) and a new character announcement and accompanying character trailer (see below).
The new logo is pretty sweet, but most of the discussion has focused on the new character. His name is Dai Jin, and he’s the operative you can see smacking around conspicuously non-Chinese bad guys in the trailer below.
The second half of that trailer doesn’t exactly help assuage fears that the consumer version of the game is still a long way off — it looks very unfinished — but a few other tidbits about the game have squeaked out via the weibo account of one of the game’s designers. Apparently, it will feature People’s Armed Police officers in addition to the regular People’s Liberation Army soldiers (the military version of the game, which is already in use, does not). It also will apparently feature a new animation system that makes it look smoother than the military training version currently in use.
Unfortunately, there’s still no news on when the game is actually coming out, which means that piracy of the military version will likely continue, despite the fact that it’s illegal.
