Wohooo! It turns out that the robot ass-kicking fun in the Real Steel movie isn’t too far away now that the Japanese electronics company, Suidobashi Heavy Industry, has revealed a $1.2 million gun-wielding robot. It’s ready to be controlled with a smartphone, and was unveiled a couple of days ago at the Wonder Festival. The robot is called Kuratas Battle Mech, and it stands at four metres and weighs in at 4.5 tons. To trigger the gun, the pilot need only to smile – literally.
The robot can be controlled from both the inside cockpit and from a smartphone, using an app known as the MasterSlave control system. Do note that you need at least a 3G network connection to move the giant. Kuratas comes in 16 different colours, and will be on the market in near the future.
One might ponder if the dream career of becoming a robot pilot could be a reality in our lifetime. Do check out the cool robot video here.
